He was born in Rhinebeck, to George H. and Bernice (White) Werner. Upon graduation from Rhinebeck High School, he served in the Vietnam War. He returned to Rhinebeck and worked as a security officer at several locations, the most recent being Northern Dutchess Hospital. Virginia Hanlon, 96, Of Haverstraw HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. – Virginia (Ginny) Hanlon, a resident of Haverstraw, died Saturday, July 16. She was 96. Born Nov. 4, 1920, in Americus, Ga., she was the daughter of Kenny and Mary Phillips. Prior to moving to New York, she worked at the Manhattan Shirt Factory in Americus. On Sept.4, 1944, she married Staff Sgt. Frank B. Hanlon. In 1946, they made their home and raised their family in Frank’s hometown, Haverstraw. Born July 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Anna and John T. Ball of Lawrence Township. In December 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on  sea plane reconnaissance flights in the Pacific Theater. He earned a number of decorations, including the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with two stars. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Rd., Lyndhurst.
