DARIEN, Conn. Darien resident Amelia McCanns July 4 death has been officially ruled an accidental drowning. The Connecticut Chief Medical Examiners Office determined that her cause of death was asphyxiation due to submersion.
The autopsy showed no other injuries or signs of foul play. The medical examiners office provided no additional information as to how the drowning occurred.
McCann, 45, was discovered submerged in her backyard swimming pool Wednesday morning by her husband. Emergency crews responded and attempted to revive her with CPR but were unsuccessful. She was later transported to Stamford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
