DARIEN, Conn. — Reed William Schwandt, an investment portfolio manager, died suddenly on Saturday, June 10, in Darien. He was 40.

Schwandt was born Sept. 11, 1976, in Minneapolis. He attended Armstrong High School, graduating in 1994. He then enrolled at Indiana University, where he graduated with honors in applied math/finance and met his wife Renee. At the age of 21, he began his career in finance at Morgan Stanley in New York City. Later he attended The Wharton School, where he earned an MBA, also with honors.

He enjoyed an accomplished career as an investment portfolio manager while still maintaining his enthusiasm for playing basketball, attending Green Bay Packers games, and enjoying the seaside life he had built with his family.

Schwandt is survived by his wife, Renee Schwandt; his three children, Isabelle, Luke, and Emmerson; his parents, Karen and Stephen Schwandt; his brother, Andrew Schwandt; and many friends and extended family members.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home at 2119 Boston Post Road, Darien. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien.

His memory will be honored by establishing a Renee Schwandt Family Trust for loved ones to support this young family. Further details will be made available during the visitation and memorial services.
