FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With wintry precipitation turning to all rain -- some heavy at times -- by early afternoon Sunday, a flood advisory was issued by the National Weather Service until 2:45 p.m. and a flood warning that expired at 6:15 p.m.

The Freezing Rain Advisory issued by the National Weather Service was extended until 1 p.m. Sunday. It was originally in effect until 11 a.m. Sunday.

Earlier Sunday, wintry precipitation resulted in slick driving conditions, accidents and closures on area roadways.

The Merritt Parkway closed in Stamford at Route 106 (Exit 36) following an accident reported at 9:21 a.m.

An earlier accident reported at 8 a.m. blocked two lanes on southbound I-95 South in Greenwich between Route 1 (Exit 5) and Indian Field Road (Exit 4).

Further north, another accident, reported at 7:59 a.m., took out two lanes on southbound I-95 between Route 1 (Exit11) and Noroton Avenue (Exit 10) in Darien.

A stretch of southbound I-95 at Playland Parkway in Rye closed at 7:20 a.m. because of an accident.

Further south, an accident blocked the right lane of I-19 between Chatsworth Avenue (Exit 17) in Larchmont and North Avenue/Cedar Street (Exit 16) in New Rochelle. The accident was reported at 7:30 a.m.

A wintry mix could return after midnight, with rain likely, possibly mixing with snow after 2 a.m., before gradually ending.

The outlook for Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is partly sunny with a high between 36 and 38 degrees.
