Fitness Studio Stresses Flexibility

Darien fitness buffs for whom flexibility is key will find it at an exercise studio debuting Saturday. Flair Fitness Studio will offer classes geared to fit all schedules and routines. The studio officially welcomes patrons on Monday, Sept. 13, but there will be free class demonstrations Saturday, Sept. 11.

Popular classes such as Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing, Shape it Up and Tone & Stretch will be taught by certified instructors Eddie Calle, Martha Guttuso and Amber Allen. Eddie and Amber have been teaching Zumba classes at the Darien Community Association as part of Flair Fitness Studio's launch initiative.

"We are offering a variety of classes in order to be flexible for everyone's schedule. We just want people to walk in with no commitment and have fun. If they can leave with a smile on their face, we know we've done our job", says co-founder Peg Perez.

Flair Fitness will offer Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, ZumbAtomics and Zumba Couples. Ab Attack/Booty Blast and Muscle Madness will also be offered.

Flair Fitness was founded by Perez and Amy Shelton. Both have a longtime connection with Darien and, seeing that Zumba was growing in popularity, wanted to offer classes in a non-committal setting. Flair Fitness is a non-membership studio where people can walk in and take a class. "We understand not every week is consistent," said Shelton, "and our initiative is to offer flexibility for everyone."
