19: City In Fairfield County Reinstates Indoor Mask Mandate
An indoor mask mandate is being put back in effect in Connecticut’s second-largest city. With the number of COVID-19 cases surging, and variants on the rise, Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons announced that she will be implementing a city-wide indoor mask mandate. Simmons scheduled an announcement Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 21 with other top health officials outside the Stamford Government Center on Washington Boulevard to make the mandate official. Three New Officers Join Stamford Police Force
Stamford Police welcomed three new officers at a swearing-in ceremony led by Stamford Mayor David Martin. The event, which also included, Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski and Police Chief Jon Fontneau, took place on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Stamford Government Center. Nearly 3,000 Eversource Electric Customers Still Without Power After Storm
Eversource reported that 2,832 electric customers in Connecticut were still without power on Thursday, March 8. Eversource has been informing the City of Stamford that its residents should expect an average of three days until power restoration, in many cases. Stamford Mayor David Martin said, “Unfortunately Stamford was hit hard by this storm with many trees and power lines down."
