Danbury’s Zoning Commission approved OTB facilities for city restaurants by a 6-3 vote Tuesday night after two public hearings on the issue, The Hour said.

A similar OTB facility will open at Bobby V's Restaurant & Sports Bar when it opens in a new location in downtown Stamford next month.

In Danbury, Two Steps Downtown Bar and Grille is planning to add a betting parlor as part of a $750,000 renovation if the proposal is approved. The renovation would be funded by Sportech Venues, which has licensing rights to OTB in Connecticut and is behind the new betting facility at Bobby V's.

Critics say an OTB facility can increase crime in the area and hurt efforts to revitalize downtown.
