Fires Break Out Overnight In Two Stamford Homes Fires broke out in two homes within a few miles of each other overnight in Fairfield County with one resulting in an injured resident. The first of the blazes began around 1:18 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, when neighbors called 9-1-1 reporting a large fire in the area of Blackwood Lane in the Turn of River area of Stamford. Basement Fire Damages Long Ridge Home Residents in a Long Ridge home had to evacuate over the weekend when a fire broke out in a basement, sending smoke billowing through the house over the weekend. The Stamford Fire Department received a report at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, of dark black smoke that was spreading from the basement to the rest of the West Haviland Lane home. Crews from the Long Ridge Fire Company, Stamford and Turn of River Fire Departments responded to the home, with units arriving within 10 minutes of the initial report.
