Two people are facing charges after a 3-year-old was left in an idling vehicle that was stolen from a Connecticut gas station parking lot this week, including the child's mother, police said.
Hainef Ramon Baker, 28, of Norwich, allegedly stole a Volkswagon parked outside a Valero gas station in Willimantic on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 4, authorities said. Police later found the child unharmed and arrested Baker in Preston. He now faces multiple charges, including second-degree kidnapping, robbery by carjacking, and risk of injury to a minor.

A 19-year-old man from Connecticut is facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Westchester and leading police on a multi-agency pursuit, authorities said.
The incident began on Thursday morning, Nov. 28, when a West Harrison resident reported suspicious activity involving two vehicles, a white Mercedes Benz and a dark-colored Audi A5, on Columbus Avenue, the Harrison Police Department announced on Monday, Dec. 2.

A BMW stolen by two masked men from a Connecticut car wash earlier this month was found in New York, police said.
The 2024 BMW X5 was stolen on Monday, Nov. 11, from a car wash on Post Road in Darien around 2:45 p.m., authorities said. The owner told police they were drying the SUV when two men in masks climbed out of an unknown vehicle, hopped into the beamer's driver's seat, and sped away. A man has been arrested after he stole a car from a Connecticut residence and later used the owner’s credit cards at a rest stop, police said.
On Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Fairfield County, 18-year-old Robert Barbera was arrested by Darien Police officers in the city of Stamford, the department reported.
