The driver was Will Alexander-Armijo, 24, and the passenger was Ismael Hernandez, 26, both of Bridgeport, police told the Connecticut Post.
The Nissan Pathfinder slammed into a concrete barrier at the end of Laurel Avenue, off Capitol Avenue, just before 10 p.m. Saturday, police said. The street makes a dead end near Rooster River.
Hernandez was declared dead at the scene, and Alexander-Armijo, who was pulled from the burning car by a witness, died later at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Police were investigating the cause of the double-fatal crash.
