Officers responded to Macy's at about 6 p.m. on a report that two shoplifters were in custody, police said.

The two were accused of taking $443 worth of merchandise without paying, police said. They removed store tags from the items by using pliers and a magnet, police said.

Tinisha Walker, 35, of 467 Bird St., #205, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and possession of a shoplifting device. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 31.

Willie Simmons, 35, of 467 Bird St., #205, Bridgeport, was arrested on the same charges. He was also charged with second-degree failure to appear in court.

That charge stemmed from an active warrant for Simmons' arrest. He is accused of failing to appear in court Jan. 30, 2014, stemming from a larceny arrest in Fairfield on Oct. 24, 2013.

He was released on $500 bond for a court date of Oct. 31.
