Connecticut Native Among The Victims At Orlando Nightclub

One of the victims of the deadly massacre at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando was a Torrington native who had only recently moved to Florida, according to NBC Connecticut.

Kimberly Morris, 37,  a native of Torrington, was among the 49 victims of a mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.

Kimberly Morris, 37, known as KJ to her friends, had just started to work this past week as a bouncer at Pulse and was on the job when the gunman opened fire, NBC Connecticut said. 

Florida Gov. Rick Scott mentioned Morris during a news conference Monday, NBC Connecticut said.

“A young lady, K.J. Morris, that just moved here from Hawaii to take care of her mother and grandmother,” Scott said.

Morris played basketball at Post University in Waterbury and had also lived in Northampton, Mass., NBC Connecticut said.

"We are deeply saddened to lose a member of our Diva's family, KJ Morris who preformed as Daddy K," Diva's Nightclub posted on Facebook. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. We will always remember her smile and her amazing way she lit up the stage in her performances . Keep dancing KJ ... And we'll keep smiling remembering you!!"
