Joaquim Teixeira, 94, Longtime Bridgeport Resident

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Longtime Bridgeport resident Joaquim Teixeira died on Sunday, March 13. He was 94.

Born in Portugal, Teixeira was a Bridgeport resident for over 50 years. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Vasco DaGama.

He was survived by his children, Lucilia Teixeira, Hermina Farrington, Maria Llinas, Otilia Alves, Celeste Gardner and Eliseu Teixeira; sisters Luisa Vaz and Maria Fernandes; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Teixeira was predeceased by his wife, Maria Agusta Teixeira, and his parents, Jose and Hermina Teixeira.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave., in Bridgeport. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 17, with a 9:15 a.m. service at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. service at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1282 Noble Ave., in Bridgeport. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, in Naugatuck.
