Jacqueline Brooks-Bruce, 58, Former Bridgeport Resident

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Jacqueline Brooks-Bruce, a former Bridgeport resident, died Sunday, Jan. 18, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was 58.

Born in this city to the late Stanley Brooks and Jessie Searight, Jacqueline had been a lifelong resident. She was 1974 graduate of Central High School and then went on to secure a B.S. in accounting from Western Connecticut State University.

She was last employed by Fletcher Thompson in the accounting department. Jackie was a 4-H Club junior leader of Fairfield County.

In addition to her parents, her brother Durwood Searight predeceased her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Charles L. Bruce, and a son, Charles L. Bruce Jr., both of Bridgeport; a daughter, Jemia E. (Tyrique) Bruce-Johnson of Maryland; two brothers, Elder Arstine Mclellan of West Haven and Toby Searight of Bridgeport; four sisters, Betty Jo Craft, Jan Ester Brooks and Lora Brooks and Terri Williams; three grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. at Apostolic Mission Church, 474 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport, with District Elder Samuel L. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewing Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
