FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Here's a look at the top stories from Fairfield County in the past week.

Donald Trump won the election to become the 45th president. But in Fairfield County, only seven of the 23 towns had a majority of voters cast ballots for the Republican winner.

Also winning re-election on Tuesday were U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal as well as U.S. Reps. Jim Himes, Elizabeth Esty and Rosa DeLauro, all Democrats. 

A Fairfield police officer was justified in using deadly force to shoot and kill a local man who was coming after officers with a 10-inch knife after attacking his family, the state's top prosecutor ruled.
