Much of the tristate area will be in a deep freeze this weekend, according to the latest forecast.
High temperatures will be in the 20s through Friday, then plunge to the low teens overnight.
Bundle up on Saturday: It will be about 12 degrees at dawn and plunge throughout the day.
The Wind Chill Watch begins at 6 p.m. Saturday run through noon Sunday. The will be the coldest part of the weekend as temperatures plunge below zero, with wind chills of -25 to -30 due to strong northwest winds in the evening and overnight into the morning.
Temperature lows for coastal Greenwich and Norwalk are forecast at -3 degrees, with -6 for Danbury and Weston and other inland areas, with the negative double-digit wind chills.
The hazards include extreme and dangerous cold; frozen pipes, frostbite and hypothermia.
The National Weather Service advises residents to wear layers, including hats and gloves; bring pets indoors; and to heat homes safely and only with indoor approved devices.
It will warm into the teens on Valentine’s Day, but drop again into the single digits overnight.
There is a chance of snow on Monday — the Presidents Day holiday.
