The theme for 2014 is “Cherishing Family: The Greatest Gift of All.” There will be four events, including a children’s night, Holiday Preview Gala, “Christmas Around the World” party, and Sunday afternoon High Tea.

The chairwomen of the festival are Shaun Amberg, Donna Craft, and Catherine Gallagher.

The aim of The Center for Family Justice, formerly the Center for Women and Families, is to strengthen women and families who are dealing with abuse and violence. Services include advocacy, community collaboration, education and intervention.

The center at 753 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, helps collaborate the services of civil legal service providers, community-based advocates, police officers, and prosecutors. The organization serves residents in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull.

“We are honored, thrilled and excited to be chosen as the beneficiary for the 2014 Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival,” said Debra A. Greenwood, president and chief executive officer of The Center for Family Justice. “This could not have come at a better time for The Center, as we begin our transformation from The Center for Women and Families to the Family Justice Center in Connecticut.”

She added, “We are still offering the same life-saving services we have always offered to those being affected by domestic and sexual violence. It is the auxiliary services being co-located under one roof that will streamline how we turn victims into survivors.”

The Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival is an independent, nonprofit organization that raises money for local community projects. The festival has raised more than $3.5 million since it began in 1981.
