The state’s rivers, streams, lakes and ponds are stocked and ready, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced.
"Our state trout hatcheries have been working incredibly hard to get over 370,000 rainbow, brown, tiger, and brook trout stocked, including hundreds of big broodstock over 5 pounds for you to catch," DEEP said on its Facebook page.
The trout were released this spring into 102 lakes and ponds and 200 rivers and streams throughout Connecticut, DEEP said.
The fishing season kicks off at 6 a.m., with anglers expected to be ready to cast off along the Nutmeg State's lake, rivers and streams, DEEP said.

The department's spring trout stocking effort began in early March and will continue through the end of May.
