The orchestra will perform music from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” musical shorts by John Williams, composer of the “Star Wars” theme, and Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” In addition, the Principal Orchestra will accompany GBYO Concerto Competition winner Julian Shively, as he plays George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” on piano. Shively, a 15-year-old Trumbull resident, is a cellist in the orchestra, as well as an accomplished pianist who has won numerous piano competitions. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
GBYO also will delight audiences with an outdoor concert on the Great Lawn of the historic Pequot Library in Southport at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21. There is no charge for this concert. Bring chairs and blankets and enjoy classical, jazz and modern music in a relaxed, natural setting.
