Cape May Bartender, Marine Veteran Carl James Oravits Dies Unexpectedly, Restaurant Says
A Cape May bartender and U.S. Marine Corps veteran is being mourned following his unexpected death, announced by his employer.
Carl James Oravits, of North Wildwood, died unexpectedly, Hemingway's Cape May announced on Wednesday, Oct. 7. A cause of death was not made public.
Oravits had worked as a bartender at Hemingway's since 2024 and previously served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1992 to 1999, according to his Facebook profile. He was originally from Boonton.

Virginia Soccer Player Allison Rivera Dies
Allison Rivera made the girls around her better.
On the soccer field, the Northern Virginia student-athlete was the fierce midfielder wearing No. 8. Off it, she was a friend and classmate to students at Smart's Mill Middle School in Leesburg.
Rivera, a member of the Northern Virginia Alliance Under-14 Girls Academy team, died this week, prompting an outpouring of support from the soccer community. For some of Rivera's teammates, the bond stretched back years.

Andy DiJusto, a longtime Ardsley resident, died on Friday, Sept. 25, at age 60, according to his obituary.

A North Jersey contractor, former competitive snowboard racer and Rutgers University graduate died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 2. Alessandro “Alex” Borgo, of Montclair, was 31, according to his obituary on the Caggiano Memorial-Home website.
Born in Brazil, Borgo moved to the United States at 5 years old and graduated from Rutgers in 2018, his obituary reads.
