Peter Brown, 23, of Stafford, was arrested during a high-risk traffic stop involving a SWAT team on Friday, June 9, the Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur said.
The first incident was reported on Friday, June 2 just before 8:40 p.m. in which someone on Foxwood Drive was able to flee from Brown, who was holding them at knifepoint, Decatur said.
Less than 20 minutes later, deputies responded to Vista Woods Road for a successful robbery. Two more similar knifepoint robberies were committed since then, the most recent on Thursday, June 8, police said.
Around 4:05 p.m. on June 9, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Brown’s vehicle, as detectives in CID executed a search warrant on his home.
Brown was taken into custody without incident. Knives that were described in the robberies were located, as well as, numerous personal belongings of the victims, police said.
Brown was charged with two counts of armed robbery, as well as, attempted armed robbery. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. More charges may be obtained at a later date, and detectives are currently working to identify a second suspect.
