Deputies leapt into action on Thursday afternoon, when a homeless man did his best Lex Luthor impersonation and attempted to take off in a mobile health van from the seemingly superhero-inspired Richmond-based "Daily Planet" Health Services.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Jan. 25, deputies were called to Carlos O'Kelly's restaurant on Richmond Highway to check on a possibly stolen vehicle that was in a lot and flagged by an eagle-eyed Good Samaritan who spotted a photo of it on social media.

Upon arrival, no X-ray vision was required for first responders, who found the van unoccupied, prompting a call for backup from additional deputies.

According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, they found several bottles of Steel Reserve in the stolen van as they began searching the business park, and it didn't take long for them to stumble upon Alvaro Garcia, who was near an area McDonald's skulking suspiciously before attempting to hide behind a dumpster.

When approached, officials noted that Garcia had a bottle of Steel Reserve on him, as well as the keys to the stolen mobile health van.

Garcia, 35, who has no fixed address, was arrested without incident and charged with grand larceny. He's being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond, while the van was returned to the staff at the Daily Planet.
