Small Plane Crash Kills Pilot, Passenger In Culpeper County, State Police Say A pilot and their passenger were killed in a small plane crash in Culpeper County on Friday, May 17, authorities confirmed. The private aircraft went down on the 13000 block of Spillman Road in Culpeper County just before 2:45 p.m., Virginia State Police said. The pilot and sole occupant died at the scene. The FAA and NTSB were notified. The incident remains under investigation.

Fluvanna County Palmyra Plane Crash A pilot and his passenger were killed in a plane crash on Sunday, May 5 in Fluvanna County, Virginia State Police said. John W. Latham, 63, of Haymarket, was piloting the privately-owned, twin engine 1975 Rockwell Aero Commander 690A that crashed in a densely-wooded area along Miles Jackson Road in Palmyra just before 9 a.m., state police said. Neither Latham nor his passenger, Niiben C.A. Ayivorh, 73, of Burke, survived, police said. Their remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for examination and autopsy. Pilot Unscathed After Virginia Plane Crash A Michigan pilot miraculously survived a small plane crash in Virginia Tuesday evening, March 12, officials said. Travis M. Berlin, 45, of Parma, MI, made an emergency landing in a field of the 1400 block of Steed Lane in Warren County around 5 p.m., Virginia State Police said. The aircraft landed in a field and struck several trees. Berlin was the only occupant and was not injured. The FAA and NTSB were notified and the incident remains under investigation.

Police ID Pilot Killed In Fiery Virginia Plane Crash Police have identified the pilot killed in a Fauquier County plane crash over the weekend. Simmie A. Adams, 62, of Bealeton, was trying to land a single-engine plane when the plane collided with several trees around 3:55 p.m. near Midland Road and Ebenezer Church Road, Virginia State Police said. The plane caught fire and Adams, the only occupant, died at the scene of the crash. No one on the ground was injured as a result of the crash. The FAA and NTSB were notified of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
