Death Of 19-Year-Old Struck By Train In Gainesville Investigated As Suicide: Police The death of a 19-year-old man who was fatally struck by a freight train on Monday, Oct. 9 in Prince William County, is being probed as a possible suicide, authorities said. Emilio Maurisio Rivas, of Catlett, was walking within the tracks as the train was approaching Gardner Manor Place and Hillcrest Farm Lane in Gainesville just before 3 p.m., county police said. The train engineer sounded the train horn to warn Rivas, who continued to walk within the tracks before being struck by the train. Fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene where Rivas was pronounced dead.  …

Two Dead In I-495 Crash Weren't Wearing Seatbelts: Police Two unbelted men died and a woman was in critical condition following a head-on crash on Interstate 495 on Tuesday, May 17, authorities said. A Mazda 3 collided with a Buick Encore near the Chain Bridge Road exit in Fairfax, causing the Buick to burst into flames after the impact, Virginia State Police said. The Buick driver, Patrick Mullins, 32, of Catlett, Va., and Kaan Karabekir, 28, of Bethesda, Md., who was behind the wheel of the Mazda, died at the scene.
