Police have identified the innocent driver killed by a wrong-way car thief during a police pursuit on I-695 earlier this week. Dimeka Thornton, 37, of Windsor Mill, was operating an Acura TSX when she was struck by a driver in a stolen car in the outer loop, on the ramp to Exit 18 to Liberty Road around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 8, the Maryland Attorney General's Office said in a release. A 21-year-old Washington D.C. car thief was arrested after leading police on a brief foot chase in Virginia, authorities said. Keonte Marshall was behind the wheel of the stolen car spotted by an officer in Arlington on 10th Street N. at Wilson Boulevard around 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, Arlington County police said. Police in Leesburg are investigating a rash of car thefts, some of which were caught on surveillance footage. The multiple thefts from vehicles and tampering incidents occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Feb. 6, local police said. Of the 26 vehicles involved, 14 were entered and had items taken, police said. None of the entered vehicles were believed to be locked.
