The 38-year-old Woodbridge man told Prince William County police that he was in the Potomac Mills Road area on Saturday afternoon when a stranger approached him, pulled out a knife, and started attacking him. The attacker didn't say why he was doing this, in fact, he didn't say anything during the attack, police said.

The victim ran away and flagged down a passing motorist who rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Investigators canvassed the area and found evidence at a nearby homeless camp, police said. Though they did not elaborate on what detectives found.
