Shortly before 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 9, members of the Prince William County Police Department were called to the area of Featherstone Road near Walnut Street, where there was a reported single-vehicle crash.

The initial investigation determined that a 17-year-old Woodbridge teen - whose name will not be released - was driving a 2019 Toyota Yaris eastbound on Featherstone Drive at “an apparent high rate of speed” when he attempted to pass another driver and lost control.

According to police, the Toyota left the roadway and struck the Testing Technologies Inc. building in the 1200 block of Featherstone Road before rolling over and coming to rest on the roof.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was airlifted to an area hospital where he died on Sunday night, police said. Due to the teen’s age, the identity of the driver will not be disclosed under state law.

The crash is now being investigated by the Prince William County Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding the crash or events leading up to it has been asked to contact members of the Crash Investigations Unit at the Prince William County Police Department by calling (703) 792-6500.
