Confederate Statue Depicting Slavery Removed From Arlington National Cemetery, Opinions Sought The longstanding Confederate Memorial in the Arlington National Cemetery is on its way out, and public input is being sought. The Confederate Memorial is scheduled to be removed from Section 16 of the Arlington National Cemetery after nearly 110 years, at the request of Congress and implemented by the Secretary of Defense.
