Utility issues closed all westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike Wednesday morning, May 1. According to the VDOT site, traffic was being diverted to Patrick Henry Drive as of 9:30 a.m. The roadway was closed at Castle and Thorne roads in Seven Corners. UPDATE: Utility Problem. A crash on I-95 caused five miles of backups Tuesday morning, April 23. The crash happened at mile marker 177.9 on the southbound side along the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Fairfax County just outside of Alexandria, according to the VDOT site. Traffic was backed up for nearly two miles due to a crash on I-66 Monday afternoon, April 22 in Fairfax County. The multi-vehicle crash happened at milepost 64.4 in Merrifield, the VDOT site says. Motorcyclist, 23, Killed In I-395 Crash Was Former Football Player
Services have been set for 23-year-old Joshua Craig Jr., the motorcyclist killed in a crash on I-395 last week. Craig, of Dumfries, was heading north on I-395 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck a 2012 Acura TL around 4:50 p.m. near milepost 7 in Arlington, Virginia State Police said. At the scene. VDOT Craig's Honda CBR600RR went off the road to the right and struck a guard rail. Craig, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A multi-vehicle crash caused heavy delays along I-95 in northern Virginia on Friday morning, April 19. The VDOT site says the northbound crash happened near milepost 147.5 in Stafford, right behind the Stafford/Quantico Courtyard Marriott. A pedestrian was hospitalized in serious condition after being struck by a tractor trailer on Interstate 95 in Virginia Monday morning, April 1, police said. The victim was a driver who had been standing outside of their disabled vehicle around 8:45 a.m. on the southbound side, Virginia State Police said. According to the VDOT, the crash happened in Triangle. Backups were approximately 10 miles long. The striking vehicle remained on scene while the victim was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, and later flown to the VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

A tractor trailer burst into flames on Monday, Nov. 6 on Interstate 81, officials said. It happened around 7 a.m. on the northbound side near milepost 251, in Rockingham County, Virginia State Police said. The vehicle suffered a mechanical issue which caused the blaze. $15M Project Will Replace 60-Year-Old Bridge In Arlington, Public Urged To Weigh In
The public is being urged to weigh in on a $15 million project planned to replace a 60-year-old bridge in Arlington. The North Old Glebe Road bridge over North Glebe Road (Route 120) was built in 1964 and today, averages 7,000 vehicles a day, the VDOT said. Rehabilitating the bridge would cost 9.75 million, and so, the county has opted to fully replace it. The new bridge will feature a wider sidewalk on the eastern side and an additional sidewalk on the western side.
