Hottest Temps Yet? Heat Wave Ahead For Northeast If you live in the Northeast and experiencing a heat wave was on your summer bucket list, there could still be time to check that off. According to the National Weather Service, a heat wave is a period of abnormally hot weather that typically lasts more than two days.
