New details have been released by the Metropolitan Police Department after a 14-year-old was shot and killed at a Metro station in Northeast DC on Thursday afternoon. Avion Evans has been identified by the agency as the teenager who was killed when a fight broke out on the platform of the Brookland-Catholic University Metro Station in the 800 block Monroe Street NE. The shooting was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on April 4. Some Metro riders in Southeast DC got a scare on Thursday afternoon after first responders evacuated a station and temporarily suspended service due to smoky conditions caused by a fire. Shortly after 1 p.m. on Feb. 15, DC Fire and EMS personnel reported that they were called to the Eastern Market Metro station, where there was smoke on the platform, officials say.
