Support Swells For Parents Whose Only Son Was Shot, Killed Near Northwest DC High School
A family in Northwest DC is reeling after a 16-year-old was shot and killed leaving his high school in another act of violence in the District. Maurice "Moe J" Jackson, of Northeast DC, was walking at around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 26, when he began talking with another group of teens, police say. During that altercation, a member of the other group pulled out a gun near the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and P Street NW, striking the teen. Double DC Murderer Nabbed Years Later, Police Say
A 29-year-old man has been charged in a pair of murders dating back to 2020 and 2021, in Washington DC, authorities said. Michael Sanders is believed to have killed 30-year-old Youness Zarouaki, of Alexandria, VA, on Feb. 18, 2021; and 34-year-old Kenneth Brown, of Southeast, DC, on July 16, 2020, DC police said. Zarouaki was shot on the 1000 block of Thomas Jefferson Street, Northwest, where he was pronounced dead. A carjacking suspect is on the run after an off-duty DC police officer's SUV was stolen in New Jersey, officials confirmed. The U.S. Marshals Service and D.C. police are offering a total of $30,000 to anyone with information about a murder suspect, officials said. Wonell Jones Jr., 34, is wanted for first degree homicide in the death of 33-year-old Audora Williams in her D.C. home on July 19. Jones' children, whom he shared with Williams, were present as he shot her to death. A driver suffering a medical episode ran a red light killing a bicyclist and fireworks stand worker July 4th weekend in Northeast Washington DC, police said. At least two people are dead and another is hospitalized after alleged opioid fentanyl overdoses at a DC jail, multiple sources report.
