'Significant' Gas Leak Shuts Down Busy Roads In Northeast DC
DC Fire and EMS personnel were busy on Thursday afternoon after a construction crew hit a high-pressure gas line in Northeast, leading to a "significant" leak in the area. At around 11:15 a.m. on March 21, firefighters were called to New York and Florida Avenue NE, where a gas line was struck and spread to an adjacent building, officials said. Seven people were rushed to a Virginia hospital on Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in Fairfax County. Police say that around 11 a.m. on Feb. 4, officers from the Fairfax County Police Department were called to the intersection of Braddock Road and Bradfield Drive in Annandale, where there was a reported crash that resulted in one fatality. Authorities were investigating a serious accident on Thursday, July 21 that involved a cab and a dump truck in Albermarle County, according to unconfirmed and developing reports. Man Kills Himself On Fairfax Parkway: Police
An unidentified man died after he shot himself on a roadway in Fairfax County on Tuesday, July 19, police said. The man attempted suicide sometime before 7:20 a.m. at Fairfax County Parkway and Waterline Drive in Burke, the Fairfax County Police said. Massive Sinkhole Shuts Lanes Of I-270 For Days
A large sinkhole on Interstate 270 caused by a broken drainage pipe is expected to cause major traffic delays as officials prepare for at least a week of road closures, reports News4. The sinkhole has closed two southbound lanes and the shoulder of Interstate 270 near the Interstate 370 exit. The hole near the Muddy Branch Road overpass is 25 feet wide, the outlet reports. Authorities in Fairfax County have closed a portion of Interstate 66 on Wednesday morning, June 1, as they clean up a wreck.
