According to the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue department, the fire at a home on the 3000 block of Steven Martin Drive in Oakton broke out just before 9 a.m. on April 17 due to "improperly discarded smoking materials." Christmas Fire Kills One Person In Fairfax County One person died in a Fairfax County townhouse fire early Christmas morning, officials said. Firefighters arrived to flames shooting out of a residence of a home on the 14100 block of Red River Drive in Centreville, officials said.  The Fairfax County Fire & Rescue squad reported the incident around 6:30 a.m. One civilian died and no injuries were reported. Fairfax Fire Lt. Travis Traynham Dies On Thanksgiving Fairfax County Fire & Rescue is mourning the loss of one of their own. Lt. Travis Traynham died while off duty on Thanksgiving, the department said. "Lt. Traynham will be greatly missed. Chief Butler and FCFRD extend our deepest condolences to Lt. Traynham’s family, friends and anyone whose life he touched," FCFR said in a tweet.
