Gusty Winds, Possible Snow Heading Toward Maryland, Virginia, Forecasters Caution
Forecasters are cautioning that some wild weather may be moving through the DMV region through the weekend as the area braces for possible snow storms in parts of the area. A "Special Weather Statement" was issued by the National Weather Service advising that wind gusts possibly approaching 50 mph may be on the way on Wednesday night, bringing with it a strong cold front and possibly a taste of winter weather in the mountains. Excessive Heat Watch Issued For Most Of DMV Region With Temperatures Approaching 100 Degrees
Forecasters are cautioning that oppressive heat may be headed to the DMV region with temperatures possibly approaching 100 degrees in the area. The National Weather Service announced that an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Saturday, June 20 with possible heat index values touching 105 to 110 degrees in certain parts of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Residents throughout the region are being cautioned that there could be some severe weather heading to Maryland and Virginia. There is an "enhanced risk" of severe thunderstorms with possible tornados forming and heavy wind gusts are expected in the DMV beginning around 3 p.m. on Monday, July 3, according to forecasters.
