City Leaders Decry Neglect Following Fire at Historic Virginia Inteermont College Campus A massive fire at the former Virginia Intermont College campus in Bristol tore through several buildings overnight in what seemed like an inevitability to at least one City Council member. Questions are being raised following the massive fire, which broke out shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 and rapidly spread.  Crews were still reportedly at the scene early on Friday morning attempting to get the blaze under control following reported ceiling collapses. Amber Alert Issued For Children In 'Extreme Danger': Virginia State Police An amber alert has been issued by the Virginia State Police for two children believed to be in extreme danger. Kayden and Kendall Smith, ages 10 and 8, are believed to be with Barbara Smith, and Charles Smith. The Bristol children were last seen driving a white 2005 Ford Focus with VA tag TUG-5104. Owners Leave Shortly Before Virginia Home Leveled By Gas Explosion An unexpected explosion rocked a Virginia neighborhood on Saturday morning when a house was leveled when a gas tank went up in flames, officials said. The Bristol Fire Department responded at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 to a reported explosion in the 300 block of Booher Springs Road, according to the agency. Officials said the house was destroyed in the incident and a nearby residence was also damaged.
