Winter Storm Alert: Maryland, Virginia Brace For Snow, Arctic Freeze Maryland and Virginia residents are preparing for a possibly significant winter storm that is expected to deliver heavy snowfall and dangerously low temperatures starting Sunday afternoon according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Forecasters warn that snow accumulation in the region could range from four to eight inches, with the heaviest snowfall expected during the afternoon and evening hours.  The NWS Baltimore-Washington office tweeted, "A winter storm will impact the region Sunday with accumulating snow likely.
