Bank Worker Tackles Gun From Robber In Alexandria: Police

Police in Fairfax County arrested a man who they say robbed an Alexandria bank at gunpoint.

Norman Williams, 42, of Fort Washington Maryland, went into the to the Truist Bank at 5922 Richmond Highway in Huntington just after 1 p.m. on May 25, flashed a handgun and demanded money, Fairfax County police said.

A bank employee tackled Williams, who dropped the gun and ran from the bank. Williams' gun was recovered at the scene and there were no injuries to the victims, police said.

Detectives identified Williams as the suspect, and arrested him Tuesday, May 30 in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Williams was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and abduction. He was held without bond.
