Driver, 18, Dies Weeks After Fairfax County Crash
An 18-year-old driver has died of injuries suffered in a Fairfax County crash on Jan. 2, authorities said.
Jose Armando Sanchez Aguilar, of Reston, was heading south on Fairfax County Parkway when he lost control of his 2011 Honda Civic, left the roadway, and struck the sound barrier wall just after 5 a.m., county police said.
Sanchez Aguilar was hospitalized with serious injuries and died on Jan. 17, county police said.
His passenger, a woman, was also transported to the hospital in conditions considered to be non-life threatening.

Speeding Driver Charged In Crash That Killed 27-Year-Old Engineer In Fairfax County
Charges have been filed against a 53-year-old driver who was speeding before a crash that killed a 27-year-old motorcyclist in Fairfax County, police said.
Gael Cruchet, 53, of Ashburn was driving the 2016 Acura TLX well above the posted speed limit when they struck Zafeer Piracha, of Lorton, on Rt. 28 in Centreville on Friday, Nov. 27, police said.
Piracha was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities in Virginia charged an 18-year-old unlicensed driver with manslaughter in a crash that killed a 23-year-old driver.
Bilecer Turcios Hernandez, of Woodbridge, and Juan Jose Bonilla Bonilla, of Woodbridge, were both speeding — perhaps, drag-racing — in the moments before the Wednesday, Aug. 30 crash on Minnieville Road and Hedgewood Drive in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said.

13 Dead, 4,475 Speeders Stopped Over Labor Day Weekend In Virginia
Thirteen people died in 10 traffic crashes over Labor Day weekend in Virginia, and five of the accidents involved motorcycles, State Police said.
Virginia State Police also stopped 4,475 speeders and 1,945 reckless drivers. State troopers also cited 491 seat belt violations and 150 child restraint violations, over the holiday weekend.
The 2023 Labor Day statistical counting period began at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, and concluded at midnight Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.
