A Long Island attorney who stole more than $6 million from clients in dozens of real estate deals could serve over a decade behind bars.
Daniel Boldi, 50, of Garden City, was sentenced to up to 12 years in prison in Nassau County Court on Tuesday, Aug. 26. It followed his guilty pleas to 13 counts of grand larceny and scheme to defraud.
Civil judgment orders totaling more than $6.2 million were also issued on behalf of 52 victims, including homeowners, real estate agents, lenders, and other entities who had trusted Boldi with escrow funds.

A Long Island attorney is accused of stealing more than $400,000 that was supposed to pay off his client’s loan during a property sale.
Michael Tulchiner, 61, of Bellmore, was arraigned on one count of felony larceny in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 8.
Tulchiner, the principal attorney at The Law Office of Michael J. Tulchiner in Melville, diverted $413,237 from a mortgage disbursement account between August and December 2022, prosecutors allege.
The money, part of a refinance loan for his client, was designated to pay off a prior loan as part of a real estate closing.

Marco Materassi, 58, of Dania Beach, Florida, was arraigned on grand larceny charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, June 20, following an investigation into a 2024 home sale gone wrong.

A Garfield attorney swiped $90,000 from two clients in real estate deals while he suspended from practicing law, said authorities who arrested him.
Alfred Ramos, 38, “received the funds into his attorney’s trust account and then, instead of forwarding them to his clients, used them for his own purposes,” Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said.
Ramos was under suspension at the time, under a July 3, 2018 order of the New Jersey Supreme Court, Calo said.

A 62-year-old former attorney in Fairfield County is going to spend more than six years behind bars for stealing nearly $2 million from clients, friends and family members.

Prosecutor: Paramus Lawyer Pocketed Client's $275,000, Lied To Detectives
PARAMUS, N.J. – A Paramus attorney pocketed $275,000 of a client’s money for himself, then lied about it to investigators, said authorities who arrested him.
Paul A. Dykstra, 69, banked the funds from a property sale instead of forwarding them to the client, “then used them for his own purposes,” Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said.
