New TZB Overturned Tractor-Trailer Among Many Crashes As Nor'easter Arrives
No one was injured during a crash of a tractor-trailer on the new Tappan Zee Bridge shortly after the arrival of the Nor'easter, one of many crashes already reported in the region. The crash took place during the early morning hours on Monday, Feb. 1, after the tractor-trailer lost control due to the weather conditions in Orangetown, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police. When this Nor’easter is over, some communities in Central and Western Massachusetts are expected to be covered in more than 1 foot of snow. Multi-Car Crash Involving Overturned Vehicle Causes Stop-Go I-684 Delays
A multi-car crash involving an overturned vehicle is causing stop-and-go delays on I-684. The northbound crash happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Exit 6A (Route 22/Route 138) in Goldens Bridge and is causing miles-long delays. There have been multiple other crashes reported amid the snowy, slippery conditions that began early Saturday afternoon when the quick-moving winter storm arrived. Clifton Man Dead In ATV Crash
A 40-year-old Clifton man died after a Pennsylvania ATV crash, authorities said. Jason Borys was driving the ATV when it veered off the road in Penn Forest Township and crashed just before 8 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. He was pronounced dead a short time after. "Adverse" weather conditions and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, authorities said, although the cause remains under investigation. With rounds of strong thunderstorms now sweeping through, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 for the entire area. Be on the lookout for rapidly changing weather conditions into the evening, the National Weather Service said. Crews Battling Elements In Search For Injured Hiker At High Tor State Park
Crews are working to rescue an injured hiker on a mountain at High Tor State Park in Rockland. The New City Fire Department, along with help from Rockland County Technical Rescue Team have been battling the weather conditions since around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, New City Fire Department officials confirmed. Officials requested a helicopter for help, but thunderstorms prevented the chopper from assisting. The placement, or condition of the hiker is not known. This is a developing story.
