More than 50,000 Litchfield residents are still in the dark two days after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region, toppling trees, felling utility poles, and sending power lines flying.
Hundreds of Eversource line, tree, and service crews worked through the night after Tropical Storm Isaias and minor tornadoes tore through Connecticut causing widespread and historic damage to the company’s electric system, according to the company.
In Litchfield County, as of 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, there were still 50,705 Eversource customers without power.

Storm With Gusty Winds Knocks Out Power, Brings Down Trees, Power Lines In Litchfield County
Thousands of Litchfield County residents were left in the dark as storms rolled through the region, bringing whipping winds of more than 50 mph that toppled tree limbs and downed power lines.
As of 1:45 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 29,787 of Eversource’s 1,279,556 customers were without power, while the United Illuminating Company was reporting 27 outages impacting 783 of their 337,094 Connecticut customers.

Investigation Leads To New Charges After Fatal Crash, CT State Police Say
An 18-year-old teen has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash that took place last year in Salisbury.
Christopher Hoyt, of Sharon, was arrested via a warrant on Wednesday, March 27, while in court on another matter, said the Connecticut State Police.
Hoyt's arrest comes after an intensive investigation by Trooper Corinne Swift of the crash that took place on July 20, 2018, on Housatonic River Road when he lost control of his Jeep Wrangler while making a turn, went up an embankment and flipped the vehicle.

State Police Release DUI Patrol Info, Checkpoint Locations For Thanksgiving Week Details
With tens of thousands of travelers driving through Connecticut during the Thanksgiving week, State Police are ramping up their plans to keep highways safe for all during the holiday rush.
Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 21, just after midnight, and running through Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11:59 p.m., state police will supplement its normal routine patrol personnel with additional Troopers throughout the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Teen In Fatal Crash Was Driving Too Fast, Under Influence, Police Say
A teen involved in a crash that killed a Litchfield County resident was allegedly driving too fast and under the influence, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Christopher Hoyt, 18, of Sharon, was arrested on Friday following the crash on Housatonic River Road in Salisbury, said Trooper Kelly Grant.
The crash occurred around 7:34 p.m. Friday, July 20 when Hoyt lost control of his vehicle while rounding a corner, rode up an embankment, on the right shoulder of the road, and overturned coming to rest in the roadway, Grant said.

Woman Killed, Three Seriously Injured In Head-On Crash Near Route 7
A 22-year-old female passenger was killed after being ejected from an SUV in a head-on crash in Kent, Conn., on Friday evening, state police said.
A GMC Terrain and Lincoln Navigator collided on Skiff Mountain Road at the crest of a hill around 7 p.m., police said. The incident occurred near the Marvelwood School, just west of Route 7, near the border of Litchfield and Dutchess counties.
