An Amish Pennsylvania man is accused of abandoning a dog in near-freezing temperatures before admitting to it when confronted, according to court documents.
Ammon Stoltzfus, 58, of Holtwood, was charged with cruelty to animals following an investigation into an incident on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, authorities detailed in records obtained by Daily Voice on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Nine four-week-old puppies were found abandoned in a box at Merion Gateway Park in Montgomery County earlier this week, Pennsylvania SPCA officials announced.

Twenty-three animals living in “severe neglect” were removed from a Coaldale home on Monday, May 20, state police said in a release.
Charges are pending against the 69-year-old homeowner, according to troopers.
