Fire Breaks Out At Aluf Plastics In Orangeburg A firefighter was injured when an overnight blaze broke out at Aluf Plastics in Orangeburg. The fire began around 2:50 a.m. Sunday in an air filtration system outside the building at 2 Glenshaw St., police said.  Upon arrival, officers found a smoke condition inside the building and discovered a fire inside components of the air filtration system on the east side of the building, police said.  Department of Environmental Conservation was notified to investigate potentially contaminated water runoff from fire department operations into nearby storm drains. Video: O&R Transports Autotransformer In Rockland Sometimes, it takes a village to move a massive autotransformer. A private contractor enlisted by Orange and Rockland Utilities got an assist from State and local police in Ramapo to utilize a 185-foot trailer to transport the autotransformer from their West Nyack Road facility to the Hillburn Substation located next to the 4th Street Bridge in Hillburn. While the autotransformer was being moved, New York State Police troopers provided an escort, while officers from the Ramapo Police Department helped with traffic control near the intersection of Route 59 and 4th Street.

O&R Reimbursement Deadline Nears For Those Who Lost Power Rockland and Orange County residents who were impacted by the rash of recent Nor’easters may see some relief on their upcoming utility bills. Orange and Rockland Utilities announced that the deadline is nearing for customers impacted by the storm that left hundreds in the dark for days to receive rebates from the company for any food or prescription medication that may have spoiled during the storms. The incident took place around 1 p.m. Friday, when a vehicle drove into the home, hitting the gas meter, causing the home and surrounding homes to be evacuated, police said.
