A powerful Nor'easter bringing snow, wind, and rain has arrived in the Hudson Valley, leaving thousands of people in the dark as they wait for crews to repair downed power lines.
The storm first arrived in the region on Monday evening, March 13, and has continued into Tuesday, March 14, bringing rain that then turned into steady snowfall in more northern and inland areas.

Storm With Gusty Winds Knocks Out Power To Thousands, Brings Down Trees In Rockland, Orange
Thousands are without power in Rockland and Orange counties as storms rolled through the region, bringing whipping winds of more than 70 mph that toppled tree limbs and downed power lines.
As of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, Orange and Rockland Utilities was reporting that 5,258 of its 105,399 Orange County customers were without power, while 8,100 of their 118,770 Rockland customers were without power.
Central Hudson was reporting that 6,362 of its 52,477 Orange County customers were also left in the dark.

Driver Escapes After Car Crashes Into Pole, Bursts Into Flames In Area
A car burst into flames and was fully engulfed after a driver in Rockland County lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole, police said.
First responders responded to Pinebrook Road in Chestnut Ridge shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, where there was a report of a one-vehicle crash and subsequent car fire, police said.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the driver had left the roadway, striking a utility pole, at which point, the vehicle caught fire.

A woman and her Pomeranian were able to escape without injury a raging fire that heavily damaged her home and garage in Pearl River.
The Orangetown Police responded to the house fire around 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, on W. Washington Avenue in Pearl River, said Orangetown Police Sgt. Kirk Vega.
Neighbors observed a large amount of smoke and fire coming from a detached garage. The fire then spread to the actual residence engulfing the upper floors, Vega said.
