Skittish Kitten Rescued From Lincoln Tunnel Gets New Home
A Port Authority police officer affectionately known as the “resident cat lady” of the Lincoln Tunnel added a skittish kitten to her clowder thanks to a fellow officer, an NJ Transit bus driver and a tunnel and bridge agent. Stray Cat Strut: Frightened Feline Fetched From Lincoln Tunnel
A frightened feline was rescued from the Lincoln Tunnel early Wednesday after being stranded on – what else? – the catwalk. Maeghan Grant, a field supervisor in the tunnel's Operations Unit, traveled nearly the length of the tunnel’s center tube with trainee Christopher Lizotte following a motorist’s call before finding the cold kitten about 400 feet from the Manhattan exit, authority spokeswoman Lenis Rodrigues said. Cashless Tolls Coming To GWB, Lincoln & Holland Tunnels In 2021
Getting across the Hudson River is about to get even EZ-er. The Port Authority is set to approve contracts for the construction of cashless tolling equipment at the George Washington Bridge, and Lincoln and Holland tunnels, ABC reports. The new system will likely be up and running in 2021. The tunnels have $60 million budgeted for each with $89 million for the George Washington Bridge. Eighty-eight percent of drivers already use an EZ Pass to pay tolls, Port Authority said. Port Authority introduced cashless tolling to the Bayonne Bridge in 2017, and to Outerbridge Crossing this year.

Driver Critical After Garbage Truck Plummets Off Overpass
A Union City DPW garbage truck plummeted off an overpass onto westbound Route 495 in Weehawken after the driver suffered a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon, responders told Daily Voice. The driver was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with critical injuries, they said. A passenger in the truck sustained a broken femur, police at the scene told Daily Voice. Port Authority May Raise Tolls On GWB, Other Bridges And Tunnels: Report
The Port Authority is considering raising tolls on the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel and other crossings into New York by $1, The New York Times reported Monday. Tolls for the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the Outerbridge and the Goethals Bridge are all $10.50 off-peak, and $12.50 during peak times. Bergen, Passaic Buses Collide In Lincoln Tunnel, Dozens Injured
A total of 32 people complained of injury after two NJ Transit buses -- one originating in Oradell and the other in Wayne -- collided in the Lincoln Tunnel heading into Manhattan, the FDNY reported.
