Multiple crashes were reported in Rockland County as slippery road conditions created hazardous travel amid a Nor'easter.
One crash happened Sunday night, Feb. 22, on Melnick Road in Monsey, The Monsey Scoop reported.

A basement fire in Orange County escalated into a large multi-agency response after flames spread into an attached garage, leaving the homeowner and a firefighter injured.
The fire began at around 1:23 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, where firefighters responded to a reported basement fire on Leslie Road in Newburgh, the Middle Hope Fire Department said on Sunday, Jan. 4.
A first alarm was automatically transmitted, bringing in mutual aid from several neighboring fire departments, the department said.

New Jersey is bracing for a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing slick roads and slippery conditions across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, snow totals will vary by location. Towns in northwestern New Jersey, such as Wantage and Morristown, could see 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet accumulation.

It was a long night for firefighters in Jersey City with multiple fires and harrowing conditions, authorities said.
At 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, firefighters responded to a working fire to 203 Harrison Ave, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The fire was in the second floor ceiling with extension into the third floor, Wallace-Scalfione said.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Tuesday may have felt relatively pleasant in Fairfield County compared to last week, with temperatures warming to near 40, but a drop in temperature after sunset tonight will result in icy conditions on roads and walkways.
