A West Milford detective tracked down and charged a 59-year-old Greenwood Lake man with knocking down a woman in the parking lot of a local supermarket when he tried to snatch her purse, authorities said. Two Killed In Two-Alarm Hudson Valley House Fire
Two people were killed in a two-alarm house fire early Wednesday in the Hudson Valley, according to the New York State Police. The fire, which was reported around 3 a.m. in Monroe in Orange County, was already fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene, officials said. Lieutenant From Hudson Valley Sentenced For Raping Teen Girls
A former NYPD lieutenant from the Hudson Valley who admitted to raping two underage girls he knew was sentenced Friday to 18 years in prison. Nicholas McAteer of Greenwood Lake in Orange County pleaded guilty on April 11 to two counts of first-degree rape. The 46-year-old McAteer was arrested in August 2017 and indicted in October 2017 for raping one victim in 2003 and 2007 and then groping her in 2016. A Greenwood Lake man was busted in Bergen County for throwing debris from the window of a moving car – a syringe used to shoot heroin – which led to a slew of other charges against him, authorities said.
