Alexandria resident Jessica "Jessy" Schroth died Tuesday, Aug. 8, after a recent illness, according to her obituary. She was 48 years old.
Born in Peru, Jessy earned her doctor of dental surgery in Brazil, before her MBA in healthcare from George Washington University in May 2022. At GWU, she was accepted into the golden Key Hnor Society, and then the Presidential Management Fellows Program at HUD, her obit says.

DC Cyclist Fatally Hit By Truck On Way To Government Job
A woman riding her bike was struck and killed by a commercial truck in D.C. while on her way to her government job, police said.Shawn O'Donnell, 40, was riding near the George Washington University campus around 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, when a Mack truck made a turn into her and they collided, the Metropolitan Police Department reported.
Despite life-saving efforts, O'Donnell died in a nearby hospital, police said.
