Several Fairleigh Dickinson University students and staff members are being quarantined after one student tested positive for COVID-19 at the Florham Park campus -- just one day after some classes had resumed in the classroom. The student had lived in the Park Avenue residence halls, NorthJersey.com reports. Students in the hall were made aware of the positive test in an email Tuesday, the report says. Police: Bogus Contractors Solicit 'Way Too Much Money' From NJ Homeowners In New Scam
A group of people posing as contractors approached a North Jersey home and tried scamming the owners out of money, prompting local police to issue a warning. The group stopped at a Florham Park home Wednesday, Aug. 26 and offered to do driveway and masonry work for the owners, local police said on Facebook. A Morris County tractor-trailer driver fled the scene after striking a pole that fell and injured three people who were eating at a restaurant outdoors, authorities charged. The driver -- whose name was not released -- was near Main Street and North Passaic Avenue in Chatham when he hit the pole, which fell and injured three people eating outside at Arminio’s Italian Corner around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, borough police said in a release. Construction Worker Falls To His Death At Florham Park Job Site
A construction worker fell 30 to 35 feet to his death at a Florham Park job site Wednesday, authorities said. The worker sustained head trauma after falling at the 90 Park Ave. job site -- where luxury homes and condominiums are being built -- around 5:20 p.m., Florham Park police said. Life-saving attempts by emergency responders were unsuccessful and the worker was pronounced dead at the hospital. The worker's identity is not being released pending family notification. The incident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and local police.
